 | | Freeway Sports Center was founded in 1971 by Richard L. Adams. Mr. Adams served as assistant principal, athletic director and football coach at Lake Fenton High School for 17 years. The football field is dedicated in his name and even now, decades later, people in town still refer to him as "Coach". When he retired from teaching in 1970 the corner of Thompson Rd and US23 was a nearly vacant field. Mr. Adams envisioned a thriving business enterprise in its place and began to build.
He started with motor homes, motorcycles, snowmobiles, lawn & garden tractors, ATV's, outboard motors, boats and even chain saws. Freeway Sports Center became a diversified center for machines that made the great outdoors "Fun". The area's population grew rapidly with the hundreds of inland lakes luring families from the cities and suburbs to the water fronts. Pontoon boats soon evolved as the most popular boat offered and by the end of the 1980's they were the outstanding specialty at Freeway Sports Center. Today the Marine Industry is our whole focus. Over the past 37 years we have gone through many changes but one dominating constant has not changed and that is our commitment to customer service.
